It is better if you use cash but if it is not possible, use credit card instead. Actually credit card is fine as long as you do not overdo it. If in this case you do not trust yourself to resist the urge overspending during the holidays, here are some tips on how you can protect your card:

  • Limit cards you carry: When you go on a shopping, limit the cards that you carry. If your cards are easily accessible, you will be tempted to swipe for more. Just bring at least one and that will do.
  • Create a list: Do not trust your mental notes or lists when buying gifts because sometimes when it comes to giving gifts, you tend to overthink. With that, it is better to create a list first. After creating the list, you can proceed buying presents and not think about who you will miss.
  • Conceal your card: Stolen credit cards are not new. It is crucial that whenever you make transactions, you conceal your card. You only need to take it out when you are about to make a payment. Do not flaunt your card because it can attract other people with bad motives.

  • Do not lend your cards to anyone: Sometimes you want to give your love ones the best of life but it is not necessary that you lend your card to them. You need to be there that way you can control the spending. If you let other people borrow your card, you will be in heavy debt without a warning.
  • Be mindful of your purchases and treat receipts carefully: Creating a list is important because it is one way of being mindful of your purchases. After that, you need to treat your receipts carefully. Keep receipts and compare it when your billing statement arrives.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to discipline and control. If you have this, you will never worry about your finances. If you want to start your 2015 right, do not build credit card debts. With the tips mentioned above, hopefully you will know how to manage your credit card during the holiday season. Good luck and enjoy the holidays!
